A resident of Meridian, MS, passed away at 9:16 p.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at The Oaks Rehab Center in Meridian, MS. He was 93 years of age. He graduated from Lamar University in Beaumont with a degree in chemistry. He was also a retired chemist in the petrochemical industry. Survived by his wife of 58 years, Wilma Bridges Chand of Meridian, MS; daughter, Diane Berwick and husband, Vernon of Meridian, MS; son, Eric Chand, M.D. and wife Cheryl of Jacksonville, FL; son in law, Kelly Rambo of Dallas, TX; 5 sisters, Barbara Foster, Carmen Patella, Esther Carl, Francis Fretwell, Cynthia Smith; brother, Daniel Chand; numerous nieces and nephews; 7 grandchildren, Adam York, Summer Berwick, Jordana Stewart, Shawn Corbello, Travis Rambo, Matthew Chand, and David Chand; 4 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Pandit and Lola Chand; daughter, Pamela Chand Rambo; 4 sisters; 4 brothers. Visitation at New Zion Baptist Church from 9 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 1, 2016. Services conducted by Rev. Gibbie McMillan. Interment New Zion Cemetery, Kentwood.
