A native and resident of Amite passed away at 11:20 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at his home. He was born October 7, 1953 in Independence and was 62 years of age. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Emily Nash; sister, Janice Harrell; brother, Johnny Payne and wife, Theresa; father in law and mother in law, Willard and Yvonne Chapman; nephew, who was like a son, Pee Wee Bickford; Goddaughter, Jessica Morris; 2 sisters in law, Cindy Verdin and Lori Glaze; 3 brothers in law, Leon Chapman, Eric Chapman and Clint Chapman; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, A.R. and Ruby Nash; sister, Belle Bickford; 2 brothers, Charles and Ed Payne; nephew, Matthew Payne and great niece, Riley Rush. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., Friday and from 8 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2016. Interment Briar Patch Cemetery, Loranger.
