A retied RN with Earl K Long in Baton Rouge, Mary Jane Fabre died on May 24, 2016 at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge at the age of 75. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who was affectionately known as “Jane.” She battled with Alzheimer’s disease for six years and passed away with complications of pneumonia. She can truly say “I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course. I have kept the faith” (1 Timothy 4:7). Jane had a heart of compassion, she touched many lives and moved through many of life’s challenges, with grace and determination. Jane was born on July 7, 1940 in New Orleans and a resident of Ponchatoula. She was a graduate Southeastern Louisiana University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education and a graduate of Southwest Mississippi Community College with an Associate Degree in nursing. She also was a CNA instructor for an options program for at risk kids in Walker. Visitation was held at Line Creek Baptist Church until religious services on Friday, May 27, 2016. Internment was in the Line Creek Cemetery. She is preceded in death by her parents, Reverend Marvin Mangum Magee and Mary Bridges Magee, and two brothers, Derry David Magee, DVM and Marvin Mangum Magee. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Nolan Fabre, Jr.; two daughters Melody Howes of Ponchatoula, and Robin Ellison and husband, Shad Ellison of Covington; son, Noland Fabre, III and wife, Rebecca of Reserve; four grandchildren, John Howes, Joshua and Lauren Ellison, and Colleen Fabre; sister-in-law, Gwendora Wilkes Magee, and niece, Juanita Magee Johnson. Pall bearers will be Tim Fabre, Benjamin Fabre, Leslie Mulkey, Chris Fabre, Jonathan Fabre and Carlton Wagner. McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, in charge of arrangements.
