Frances Sirchia Costa, a resident of Hammond and a former resident of Independence, passed away at 7:30 PM on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Landmark Nursing Center of Hammond. She was born November 14, 1922 in Independence and was 93 years of age. She is survived by her brother, Frank Sirchia and his wife, Rosalie, Independence; 2 sisters, Lena Costa, Independence, and Katherine Giartano, Mandeville; sister in law, Joan Sirchia; nephews, James Costa and Joseph Costa and his wife, Andrea, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Costa; parents, Joseph and Pauline Sirchia; brother, John Sirchia; 2 sisters, Christine Gulotta and Annie Cacioppo. The family would like to thank the staff of Landmark Nursing Home for their excellent care over the past seven years. Visitation at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, Independence, from 9 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 6, 2016. Services conducted by Fr. Howard Adkins.
