Dennis Edward “Moose” Bennett, 57 of Independence, passed away March 4, 2017 at his home. He was a native and resident of Independence. He is survived by his mother, Nina A. Bennett; sisters, Debra B. Murray and husband, Billy, Judy B. Serpas and husband, Mark, Belinda S. Bennett, all of Independence, Melanie B. Easley and husband, Buddy, of Loranger; one brother, Aubrey Craig Bennett and wife, Tammy, of Keithville, LA. Also survived by nephew, Adam J. Dupuy and wife, Kim, of Independence, nieces, Brittany L. Hyatt and husband, Nick, of Haughton, LA, Courtney R. Easley of Loranger, Samantha N. Serpas of Independence, and Hailey E. Bennett of Keithville, LA; and two great-nephews and three great-nieces. He is preceded in death by his father, James Edward Bennett. Visitation was held at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 9 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2017. Services conducted by Bro. Dale Zeibarth.
