
Harold Owens McDaniel was born on January 26, 1930 in Spring Creek, where he lived all his life. He passed away peacefully with all his family surrounding him on January 18, 2017 at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond. Harold was a graduate of LSU in Dairy Science, a U.S. Veteran of the Korean War and a 65 year member of the Spring Creek Masonic Lodge. He was a retired dairy farmer, serving as President of Dairy Farmers Trucking Assn. for 35 years. Visitation was held at Spring Creek Baptist Church on Saturday, January 21, 2017 from 8 a.m. until religious service at 12 p.m. with Masonic service at 11 a.m. Services conducted by Dr. Danny Smith. Interment in Spring Creek Cemetery. He is survived by his two daughters, Lora McDaniel, Spring Creek, and Cara Alford and husband, Conley, Spring Creek; son, Thomas McDaniel and wife, Cristi, Denham Springs; granddaughter and the light of his life, Caitlyn Michelle Alford, Spring Creek; brother, Clyve McDaniel and wife, Margie, Athens, TX; sister, JoAnn M. Strickland, Baton Rouge; brother-in-law Ervin Nebelsick, Fresno, CA; and sister-in-law Emma Dean M. McDaniel, Hammond. Preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Sue Alford McDaniel; parents, Thomas Monroe McDaniel, Sr. and Luna Annie Gill McDaniel; brothers, Thomas Monroe McDaniel, Jr. and Johnnie McDaniel; sister, Mary Edna M. Nebelsick and brother-in-law Dale Strickland. Pallbearers will be Danny Milton, Marlon Milton, Jimmie Ray Strickland, Denny Roy Strickland, E. Ray Gill and Craig Forrest. Honorary pallbearers include Smiley Conerly, Willie Karl Milton, Lewis Lee and Earl Peek.
