Luther William Davis of Amite, born February 23, 1930 in Ponchatoula, passed away January 16, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family. He was married to Elsie Templet from Ponchatoula on November 4, 1949. A long time resident of Amite, he served in the U.S. Air Force and was a lineman for Louisiana Power Light for 39 years. He was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church Amite, serving as a deacon for many years. He is survived by his loving wife, Elsie Templet Davis; daughter, Vickie Davis Shankle; son in law, Ellis Shankle; son, Glenn Russell Davis; daughter in law, Connie Hayden Davis; grandchildren, Kyle Shankle, Katie Waldrop, Lauren Smith, Keri Elliott, Stephen Davis, and Philip Davis; and eight great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy Marie Davis and grandson, Kurt William Shankle. Visitation was held at First Baptist Church of Amite, from 9:30 a.m. until religious services at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 18, 2017. Services conducted by Rev. Trey Waldrop.
