Roy E. Crittenden, a resident of Tangipahoa, passed away at 12:40 a.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Lane Regional Medical Center in Zachary. He was born September 4, 1926 in Kerrville, TX and was 90 years of age. Roy’s family moved to Tangipahoa Parish in 1932 from Fernwood, MS. He attended school in Tangipahoa and in 1943, he graduated from Kentwood High School. He attended LSU until he was drafted by the U.S. Army on December 22, 1944. After returning from the military in 1946, he went back to LSU to finish his degree and in 1950, he received a degree in Agriculture. Upon completing college, he came home to run the family dairy and joined Spring Creek Baptist Church in 1955. Later in life, he became a dedicated caretaker at Camp Moore. He is survived by his nephew, Richard E. Garner, Jr.; 5 great nieces; 1 great nephew; 6 great great nieces and one on the way; 7 great great nephews; 2 great great great nieces and 1 great great great nephew and one on the way. Preceded in death by his parents, John Crittenden and Nancy Chisholm Crittenden; sister and brother in law, Doris Crittenden Garner and Edward Garner; brother, Carl Crittenden; nephew, Ronald “Ronnie” Garner; great nephew, Douglas Garner; 2 great great nieces and 1 great great nephew. Visitation was held at McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., Tuesday and from 8 a.m. until religious services at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2016.
